What is the official Geely EX5 range?

There is no single figure that applies worldwide. A current Australian-market configuration is advertised at up to 475 km WLTP. China-market Galaxy E5 versions have been published with several battery choices and CLTC figures, including claims up to 610 km CLTC for a later long-range configuration.

WLTP and CLTC are different laboratory procedures. Their results are comparison references within the same cycle, not directly interchangeable promises. NEDC may appear in additional markets and must also be labelled.

What real-world range should a buyer budget?

Budget according to the hardest normal trip, not the brochure maximum. Sustained high speed, low temperatures, cabin heating, hills, wind, payload, tyre choice, and battery conditioning can all reduce distance. Mild urban use may be more favourable.

Keep a reserve for charger outages and detours. Fleet buyers should validate a sample with representative passengers or cargo and the climate-control setting drivers will actually use.

Which battery is fitted?

Referenced EX5 variants use lithium iron phosphate cells marketed as Geely Short Blade battery technology. Capacity differs: China-market versions have included batteries around 49.5 kWh, 60.2 kWh, and later larger packs, while destination-market documentation may state gross or usable capacity differently.

Request the exact capacity, cell chemistry, thermal-management system, build date, and whether the quoted number is gross or usable. Similar trim names in two countries do not guarantee the same pack.

How long will the battery last?

No responsible seller can promise one lifespan for every vehicle. Ageing depends on temperature, time at very high or low state of charge, charging power, usage cycles, software buffers, and maintenance. Follow the applicable manual and written warranty terms.

For fleet ownership, record battery health at delivery and during service. A retail warranty in one country may not apply to a parallel-export car in another.

How fast is AC charging?

Referenced export versions support up to 11 kW AC, but the lower limit in the charging chain controls the result. A single-phase supply, portable cable, wallbox, onboard charger, or local current limit may reduce power. Charging losses mean a simple battery-capacity division is only an estimate.

Confirm local voltage and phase, inlet, cable, earthing, installation rules, and onboard charger. Domestic sockets should only be used with approved equipment and suitable wiring.

How fast is DC charging?

A compatible fast charger can provide a useful partial refill during a short stop. Geely Australia lists 100 kW DC capability and approximately 20 minutes from 30% to 80% for its referenced configuration under suitable conditions. Other market versions can differ.

Peak power is not session average. Charging slows as the pack approaches full and may be limited by battery temperature, charger output, shared cabinets, or thermal protection. Compare charge curves and time windows, not peak numbers alone.

Can the EX5 use chargers outside its original market?

Only when physical and electronic standards match. Check the inlet, communication protocol, AC voltage and phase, DC network, cable, software, and payment access. An adapter cannot safely solve every protocol or homologation mismatch.

This compatibility check should happen before purchase. It is particularly important for China-market vehicles sent to regions using different public-charging standards.

Can the EX5 supply external power?

Some versions offer V2L, and some market literature also references vehicle-to-vehicle capability. Rated output, adapter, socket type, included hardware, and permitted use vary. Follow local electrical rules and do not connect a vehicle to building wiring without an approved transfer arrangement.
